Answers about the yes or no spin wheel

This FAQ is the long-form reference for yesornogame.app: a free yes or no generator built as a spinning wheel. It covers how answers are picked, why the odds are always even, how Maybe and best-of matches work, and why your tallies live on your device.

For a full walkthrough of every setting, read how the Yes or No Wheel works. For better decisions, see the decision tips. To decide now, open the wheel.

Getting started

What the Yes or No Wheel is, whether it is free, and how to get an answer.

What is the Yes or No Wheel?

The Yes or No Wheel is a free online decision maker. You ask a question, spin a wheel split into YES and NO slices, and the pointer lands on your answer. You can add a MAYBE option, play best-of-3 or best-of-5 matches, and keep a running tally of every answer on your device.

Is the Yes or No Wheel free?

Yes. yesornogame.app is completely free and runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to buy, download, or install, no premium tier, and no account. Open the page and the wheel is ready to spin.

What kind of questions should I ask?

Anything that can be answered with a plain yes or no: "Should I watch one more episode?", "Do I text them first?", "Is today a pizza day?" Either/or questions like "red or blue?" need rephrasing, for example "Should I pick red?"

What are the controls?

Tap or click the wheel, press the Spin button, or press Enter in the question box. On a keyboard, Space or Enter spins whenever the wheel is visible and you are not typing, and M toggles sound.

Should I use a yes or no wheel for important decisions?

Use it for low-stakes choices, to break a tie, or to surface what you really want — if the answer disappoints you, that is a useful signal. For health, money, legal, or safety decisions, rely on real information and qualified advice rather than chance.

Randomness and fairness

How answers are picked, whether the wheel is really 50/50, and why slices do not change the odds.

Is the yes or no wheel really random?

Yes. Each spin picks a slice with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) using unbiased rejection sampling, before the animation begins. Nothing about how hard you tap, how long you wait, or your previous answers affects the result.

Is it exactly 50/50 between yes and no?

In Yes / No mode, yes. Both answers always cover exactly half of the wheel, whatever slice count you choose, and every slice is equally likely. In Yes / No / Maybe mode, each answer has exactly a one-in-three chance.

Can the wheel land on a line between two slices?

No. The answer is chosen first and the wheel is aimed at a point inside that slice, between 15% and 85% of the way across it, so the pointer never stops on a divider.

Why did I get NO five times in a row?

Streaks are a normal part of randomness. On a 50/50 wheel, any particular run of five spins comes up all NO 1 time in 32, and all the same answer (all YES or all NO) 1 time in 16. Each spin is independent; the wheel has no memory of earlier results. Your longest run is shown in Recent spins.

Options and matches

Maybe mode, best-of-3 and best-of-5 matches, slice counts, and spin length.

How does the Maybe option work?

Choose Yes / No / Maybe under Answers and a MAYBE slice is added to every set, so YES, NO, and MAYBE each cover one third of the wheel. In a best-of match, MAYBE does not score for either side — it simply means spin again.

What does Best of 3 or Best of 5 do?

It turns one spin into a short match. The wheel keeps score and the first answer to reach 2 wins (best of 3) or 3 wins (best of 5) decides the question. It is a good way to stop a single lucky spin from settling something you care about. The next spin after a decided match starts a fresh one.

Do more slices change the odds?

No. Slices are always added as complete sets — one YES, one NO, and one MAYBE if enabled — so every answer keeps the same total share. More slices just make the wheel tick more and look busier as it spins.

What does spin length change?

Only how long the animation lasts: about 2.5 seconds on Fast, 4.5 on Normal, and up to 8 on Dramatic. The answer is decided the instant you spin, so spin length never affects the odds.

Can I change the words on the wheel?

This wheel is purpose-built for yes or no decisions, so the answers are fixed to YES, NO, and optionally MAYBE. That keeps it a one-tap tool with guaranteed equal odds.

Devices, saving, and privacy

Mobile play, supported browsers, local tallies and history, and what happens to your questions.

Does the wheel save my answers?

Your YES / NO / MAYBE tallies, total spins, longest run, matches decided, last 15 answers (with the questions you typed), sound setting, and wheel settings are saved in your browser’s local storage. Nothing is uploaded to a server. A different device, a private window, or cleared site data starts fresh.

Can I use the Yes or No Wheel on my phone?

Yes. The wheel, question box, and Spin button all fit on one portrait screen. Tap the wheel to spin, and scroll down for settings and history. Sound plays after your first tap, and you can mute it at any time.

Are the questions I type sent anywhere?

No. Questions stay in your browser and are only stored locally in your recent-spin history. Our analytics records that a spin happened and which answer came up, but never the text of your question.

How do I reset my tallies?

Under Recent spins, press Reset tallies & history and then tap again to confirm. That clears your tallies, runs, matches, and recent answers on this browser. Your wheel settings and sound preference are kept.

Which browsers are supported?

Any current browser with JavaScript: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile. If the wheel does not respond, update your browser, allow scripts for this site, and reload.

Still have a question?

Every spin is an independent, equal-odds draw: each answer always covers the same share of the wheel, whatever slice count you pick. For who publishes the wheel, feedback, or a bug report, use About Us. Legal details are on Privacy and Terms.
