Guide
How to Use the Yes or No Wheel
Ask a question, spin, and let the pointer decide. This guide covers every control and setting — Maybe mode, slices, best-of matches, spin length — and exactly how each answer is picked.
Spin the Yes or No WheelWhat it does
A fair, instant answer to any yes-or-no question
The Yes or No Wheel is a spinning decision maker. The wheel is split into equal YES and NO slices — plus MAYBE if you want it — and a gold pointer at the top marks the answer when the wheel stops. It works like flipping a coin, with more suspense and a record of every result.
There is nothing to win or lose and no account to create. Open the wheel when you need a decision; use this guide to understand the settings and the fairness rules behind every spin.
The loop
Ask, spin, read, repeat
Each spin takes a few seconds. Restarting is instant — there is no page reload between answers.
- 1
Ask your question
Type a question that can be answered with a yes or a no — "Should I order pizza tonight?" The question box is optional, but writing it down makes you commit to it, and it is saved next to the answer in your history.
- 2
Spin the wheel
Tap the wheel, press the Spin button, or hit Space or Enter on a keyboard. The answer is drawn at random the instant you spin; the wheel then glides to it, ticking past each slice as it slows.
- 3
Read the answer
The gold pointer at the top marks the result. The winning slice stays lit, the hub shows YES, NO, or MAYBE, and your tally for that answer goes up by one.
- 4
Go best of 3 for big calls
Switch "Decide by" to Best of 3 or Best of 5 and the wheel keeps score until one answer reaches 2 or 3 wins. MAYBE never scores in a match — it simply means spin again.
Controls
Tap, click, or use the keyboard
Every method starts the same spin. Pick whichever suits the device in your hand.
Everywhere
Tap the wheel or Spin
The whole wheel is one big spin button, and there is a full-width Spin button underneath it for thumbs. While the wheel turns, both are locked so a double tap cannot start a second spin.
Type and go
Enter in the question box
Type your question and press Enter (or Go on a phone keyboard) to spin straight away without reaching for the mouse.
Desktop
Keyboard
Space or Enter spins whenever the wheel is on screen and you are not typing. M toggles sound. Every button and setting is reachable with Tab and shows a visible focus ring.
Modes & matches
Yes / No, Yes / No / Maybe, and best-of matches
All settings live beside the wheel (below it on phones) and are remembered on your device. They can be changed between spins, never during one.
- 01 · The classic 50/50
Yes / No
Two answers, equal halves of the wheel. Every spin is a straight coin-flip probability: 50% YES, 50% NO. Best when you have already narrowed the choice down to do it or don’t.
- 02 · Room for "not yet"
Yes / No / Maybe
Adds a MAYBE slice so each answer covers exactly one third of the wheel. Useful when "not today" or "ask again later" is a real option, or simply to make the wheel more suspenseful.
- 03 · For decisions that matter more
Best of 3 and Best of 5
Instead of one spin deciding everything, the wheel keeps a match score. First answer to 2 wins (best of 3) or 3 wins (best of 5) takes it. A single lucky spin cannot settle the question on its own.
Fairness rules
Exactly how an answer is chosen
Every answer gets an equal share
The wheel is always built from complete answer sets — YES, NO (and MAYBE) repeated 1 to 5 times — so each answer covers exactly the same total area. Changing the slice count changes how the wheel looks, never the odds.
The pick comes first
When you spin, the result is chosen with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) using unbiased rejection sampling. The animation is then aimed inside that slice, well away from the dividers, so there are no ambiguous "on the line" landings.
Best-of scoring
In a match, YES and NO each need a majority — 2 of 3 or 3 of 5. MAYBE spins are shown and counted in your tallies but do not score. The next spin after a decided match automatically starts a new one.
Tallies, runs, and history
Every landed spin adds to your YES / NO / MAYBE tallies with a percentage share, extends or resets your current run of identical answers, and is added to a list of your last 15 answers with the question you typed.
Spin length
Fast spins take about 2.5 seconds, Normal about 4.5, and Dramatic up to 8 seconds with a long, slow finish. Spin length is purely for show and has no effect on which answer comes up.
Common mistakes
Ways to get a less useful answer
Asking an either/or question
"Tacos or burgers?" cannot be answered with YES or NO. Rephrase it as "Should I get tacos?" and let NO mean burgers.
Spinning until you like the answer
Re-spinning a single question until it agrees with you defeats the point. If you want more than one spin, commit to Best of 3 before you start.
Ignoring your reaction
The answer is only half the value. If NO lands and you feel annoyed, that is useful information about what you really wanted.
Thinking more slices change the odds
Five sets of YES and NO is still exactly 50/50. Slice count is cosmetic — every answer always covers the same share of the wheel.
- Phrase a true yes-or-no question. "Should I go to the gym today?" works; "Gym or pool?" does not.
- Watch your gut when the answer lands. A flash of relief or disappointment often tells you what you actually want.
- Use Best of 3 for anything you would regret deciding on a single flip.
- Add MAYBE when postponing is a legitimate option — then treat MAYBE as "revisit tomorrow".
- More slices make a better show, not different odds. Pick whatever makes the spin feel right.
- Write the question in the box. Seeing it next to the answer in your history makes it easier to follow through.
- Keep the wheel for low-stakes calls. For health, money, or legal decisions, gather real information first.
Where it works
Same wheel on phone and desktop
yesornogame.app runs in any modern browser with no app to install. Tallies and history stay on the device you spun on.
Desktop browsers
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari run the wheel with no plugin. Click the wheel or use Space / Enter, and M to mute. Settings and history sit beside the wheel on wide screens.
Phones and tablets
The wheel, question box, and Spin button fit on one portrait screen without scrolling. Tap anywhere on the wheel to spin; settings and history sit just below.
Saved on this device
Your tallies, longest run, recent answers, sound setting, and wheel settings live in local browser storage. They stay until you reset them or clear site data, and they never leave your device.
